"The Importance of Sunshine & Vitamin D3 for
Optimal Health & Immune Function"
Vitamin D deficiency is pandemic in the United States, but many Americans, including physicians,
are not aware that they may be lacking this important nutrient.
Many studies have recently concluded that the sunshine vitamin (Vitamin D)
plays an important role in boosting, supporting, & balancing the human immune system.
There is also persuasive evidence that supplementation with the right amount & type of vitamin D can help prevent the onset of a flu, other viral infections, & the common cold.
The human body is designed to manufacture a sufficient amount of vitamin D simply by skin exposure to sunlight. The problem is that, most of us do not spend very much time in the sun, and when we do, our skin is mostly covered, either by clothes or by suncreen products. The resulting consequence is that most people have very low levels of vitamin D3. This Vitamin D3 deficiency is a precursor to a myriad of serious health issues, that are easily preventable by either increased appropriate sun exposure or quality Vitamin D3 supplementation.Population groups that have greater direct sunlight exposure, which naturally stimulates vitamin-D production in the body, were found to have stronger immune function than those with less sunlight exposure. Vitamin D3 receptors are known to exist on most immune cells, thus playing a significant role in maintaining a healthy immune system.
Even governments are becoming interested in Vitamin D & Immunity. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) is investigating the role of Vitamin D in protection against the swine flue. The agency began a study last year on the role of Vitamin D in severe seasonal infuenza, which it said it will now adapt to the H1N1 swine flu virus.

Research shows that maintaining oprimal D3 levels in the body is important in maintaining the best health of various organ systems, such as the breasts, lungs, colon, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, bladder, prostate, uterus, ovaries and kidneys.
Vitamin D promotes a healthy nervous system, healthy memory and cognition, & healthy blood vessel relaxation and blood flow are associated with ideal levels of vitamin D3.
Vitamin D is also essential for healthy calcium metabolism, promoting both intestinal calcium and phosphorus uptake and can significantly reduce calcium excretion via the urinary system. Studies have shown that appropriate vitamin D3 and calcium supplementation promote bone strength and reduced risk of falling in women aged 65 or older.
I love how Dr. John Cannell puts it. "Vitamin D makes the Immune System Smarter......."
